World Glaucoma Week in Japan

Glaucoma is an important disease which is highly ranked as cause of acquired blindness worldwide.
In Japan, also, glaucoma is the leading cause of blindness at the present.
On the other hand, early diagnosis and continued treatment can reduce the risk of going blind.
To lower the risk of blindness caused by glaucoma, it is important that more people become aware of glaucoma.
Every year, World Glaucoma Association decides the date of World Glaucoma Week in March and conducts glaucoma awareness activities worldwide. This period of the week is called, “World Glaucoma Week”.
During the period, various events and awareness activities are conducted worldwide simultaneously.
Japan Glaucoma Society (JGS) is planning to carry out the following events this year.
